Welcome to Raleigh

After living with Dan for almost two and a half years, it was quite the adjustment to living without him, and Murphy. The adjustment for them, and my family was equally hard. That first weekend, I kept my mind and my body physically busy, completing the task of moving everything into my new room. I went to the Salvation Army and picked up a new bed and dresser, put all my clothes away, went and bought everything from Wal Mart that could not fit into my car, and groceries. The weekend flew quickly, and my first day of work arrived, Monday, August 3rd, almost 1 month to the day of my first contact with my new employer! Everyone at Terracon was very welcoming and friendly. I completed the standard "new hire" paperwork, etc, learned my way around the office. I quickly began helping out with project related tasks, from reporting writing, to verifying work, and today, writing chain of custody's for samples that had been collected from a project site! Last night, I experienced my first Durham Bulls AAA Baseball game, it was a lot of fun! For those of you 80's film lovers, the movie Bull Durham was based off of the team, and was filmed here, with Kevin Costner! After my first full week here, I opted to stay home this evening, chatted with Dan for about an hour, then hit the groocery store, I know, what a life I lead! Tomorrow I am going to venture out and check out one of Wake Counties many farmers markets! I am very excited to see what kinds of local fruits and veggies I can get that are grown around here. And the main market is open year round, beat that Detroit!

The weather here, is something you definitely have to get used to, the humidity is nothing to compared to that of Michigan, and its everyday... I'm told it will take a few years to adjust to it! The next 4 days here we will be hitting record highs in the high 90s to the low 100's, plus humidity, can you tell i'm excited?
